The 26,000th hit question
IF YOU WERE BUILDING A HOUSE FROM SCRATCH, WHAT WOULD BE THE THREE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU WOULD WANT IN OR ABOUT YOUR HOUSE?
Frank Savage, my high school drafting teacher, used to sing "Sarah Smile" whenever he saw me. It made me feel special. I try to smile...I need to smile more. Writing makes me smile!
7 Comments:
1. make sure the bathroom doors open out so you don't gave to stand on the toilet to get out.
2. a really big tv in the living room
3. air conditioning vents that work, you know blow air where you need it and not like in the basement
1. Excellent fan vents in every bathroom, activated separately from the lights.
2. Plenty of cabinet space and counter space in the kitchen.
3. If I had kids, I'd want a playroom. Without kids, my third requirement would be the careful placing of windows, doors, electrical outlets, and other things in the walls, to maximize wall space for things like bookshelves and hutches. Assuming that's taken care of anyway . . . well, I'd just love to have a house, so I can't think of anything else I *need.*
1. easy to clean bathroom and kitchen - loads of tile and marble.
2. extra wide door frames to accommodate wheelchairs just in case.
3. mosquito magnet
1. Certain materials and colors for the flooring and countertops (and paint, too, I guess) to make it easy to clean- meaning, certain colors that don't show dirt easily and certain materials that are durable and don't stain easily.
2. Wire the house for surveilance/home network purposes. Install speakers throughout the house, along with advanced home music system with separate "zones", so that music can be played throughout the house (from one central family media server, or from other sources).
3. Home automation system- various electronic controls and systems integrated in such a manner that one is able to control blinds, fans, lighting, air conditioning, etc. from remote locations/remotes/control panels within the house. Also allows one to monitor house for leaks (i.e. washing machine, dishwasher, water heater, etc)
4. Integrated timers in wall switches for fans/lights.
5. The entire house must be absolutely beautiful without being too extravagant.
I'm sure you can pull it off.
